WELCOME TO CLASS!

I had a lot of things I wanted to teach you today. I wanted to talk about the victim mentality, about friendship, about psychology, and a whole lot more… I wanted to give you bits and pieces of everything. I would have if my brain wasn’t protesting against me. My hormones are rioting and my senses are looting. I was struggling with them until I finally decided to listen to them. What were their needs? They needed rest. Why rest? I haven’t done anything extra for you to demand rest so why now? They have argued their case well and I am considering resting so we will put all the aforementioned topics on hold and come back to them when the brain settles. Since rest is what is up on the table now, let’s talk about it and learn a thing or two about it.

What is rest?

According to Google, rest means;
cease work or movement in order to relax, sleep, or recover strength or be placed or supported so as to stay in a specified position.

To take a rest is to stop doing something, Take a break from, or to put something on hold for a while. As human as we are, we need to be able to consciously find a time and rest however little the time might be. Rest is needed in various situations in our lives, identify which aspect you are doing too much, and find a time and relax. Rest includes naps, sleep, exercise, etc.

Your productivity suffers if you refuse to rest. You become prone to anxiety, easy irritability, and other issues

When you rest well, you increase your energy, improve your attitude, and will increase your ability to concentrate and react, both physically and mentally.

Ways to rest.

  • Beware of stimulants.
  • Take naps when necessary. Make sure they do not interfere with your night’s sleep.
  • Don’t do complex or exciting activities before you go to sleep.
  • Take a hot bath.
  • Turn off the lights and avoid noise.
  • Take a break from social media.
  • Meditate.

Jackie Hill Perry had this to say about rest;

My brain is resting now hence it can’t do any complex explanations of what rest is. (Of course, this is thought to self. I am not that bad of a tutor).

Ok class, let’s end here (That’s more like the good tutor I am). Your assignment today is to write what rest means to you and how you rest. Leave your submissions in the comment section. I will mark you from there. See you at our next class.

Till next time,

Afiya
