CHADWICK BOSEMAN- THE ONE WHO WORKED THE PAIN THROUGH THE PAIN. A LIFE LIVED WELL.

His death didn’t affect me in any way, at least not until I saw his cause of death. 2020 has done that to us, made us numb to an extent. For me, it felt like just another death. It wasn’t until I read his cause of death that I got awestruck. I made my way to his Instagram page and watched half of his post.

”it is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.⁣ Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV. A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. ⁣It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in  Black Panther. He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side. ⁣- His family on Instagram.

I could not believe behind all the smiles and all the interview and actions was a man battling for his life. I am wondering how each morning felt like. I am wondering how hard he must have worked to be exceptional. Excellence is nothing near easy when you are fully healthy so I wonder how had it must have been for him. For four years he showed up. Giving “it”, “us” his all.

I can only imagine him saying to himself to make his life count. I imagine him saying to himself, “until my last breath, I will live”. In his hopelessness, he gave hope.

I loved Black Panther but to some extent, I did not understand the hype (don’t come for me). I loved it when he reappeared in the end game. I enjoyed his chants with his people but beyond that, he was just another good actor. Today, however, he has become a hero, a role model, and an inspiration.
I am glad your death made sense. I am glad I know you lived. You fought a good fight and even in death, you won.

I am thankful, not because he died but because he allowed his death to give meaning to life. In his death, we have a sense of hope. A true hero. The one who worked the pain through the pain.

It’s so unfortunate that you will never get to see this but I am glad that your death means so much to me. I am inspired by your life, I am inspired by your strength and I am inspired by your heart. You are truly a warrior and a king.

Rest well Chadwick Boseman, you are a king forever.
