A new year usually comes with a lot of resolutions, to do better and to be better. Ninety percent of the time, it’s completely abandoned before the year ends. I think the fear of feeling like a failure is what has kept me from making resolutions over the years. I have realized however that I have lived somewhat a passive life because I have left so many things to chance not making conscious efforts towards anything.
Happy new year to you and yours.
I am trusting that everyone is as excited about the new year as I am. I am excited about the possibilities it will bring, excited about the challenges and definitely excited about the opportunity to make a difference.
This year I am deciding to make a difference. I am making my life an active one and I am beginning by making resolutions.
If you want your life to be any better than it is, you have to consciously pursue it and be intentional about it.
In order not to be overwhelmed by the pressure of keeping up with my resolutions, I am keeping it simple, letting my word of the year guide me so I can make it a lifestyle rather than a goal I have to attain.
My word for this year is BEING. I am embodying every meaning of the word. As a noun and as a verb, I am going to exist first (make sure my presence is evident in the world) then be(doing things that impact).
There are a lot of things I want to do to make BEING a reality but I am beginning with considering and being intentional about Self-care. That is one aspect of my life that I will be working on this year. Self-care, that is body, mind, and soul. In other posts, I will tell how I am going to practice Self-care this year. I will talk about my other resolutions (or maybe not).
I am excited about the year because I am pulling strings intentionally this year and I have Christ in my boat. Can’t wait for the magic to happen.
Happy New year, I am glad I get to do another year with you. Take the front seat and enjoy this life unfold. Thank you for all the support so far. God bless you.
With lots of love,
Afiya.
